Qiqihar is noted for its bar-b-que, but it's not quite like American bar-b-que. There's the indoor bar-b-que and the outdoor one. When it's indoors, diners sit around a table and cook their food in a large rectangular electric pan, with condiments on the side for seasoning. Outdoors, often, as seen in this picture, the table is round with a hole in the middle. Set down in the opening is placed a container of live coals and over the coals is placed a flat pan on which the food is cooked, both meat and vegetables. Something to be tried back in the States.
