Our high speed train delivered us to an enormous, new train station in Chengdu. The city is also vast and quite modern, boasting a population of over 14,000,000. Sleek office buildings, attractive high rises apartments, new roads and bridges can be seen throughout. Unfortunately, overcast skies and haze prevented any good pictures. Chengdu is also a city of ancient sites, and the next morning we visited a section called Jinli which is now filled with little shops and eating places geared to tourists, in contrast to the ancient street in Qixian I presented in an earlier post. Let's take a quick look, starting with the entrance....
To top off my time in Chengdu, I bought some sugar cane near the hotel and chomped on that a bit - another first experience for me.
